| Located in the industrial city of Pingtung, in the south west of Taiwan, the Liudui Hakka Cultural Centre is dedicated to encouraging the culture, language and history of the Hakka people to thrive. This is being aided by a compact Turbosound installation in the centre's theatre.
The 600-seat, multi-purpose theatre houses a wide array of events from conferences and lectures to performances of Hakka plays and traditional music.
In order for the theatre's audio system to cater for such a diverse array of events, technical designer and consultant Mr Chen Jien-Chou, of Teamwork Co., Taichung, chose Turbosound loudspeakers for the Front of House and monitor systems.
Supplied by Turbosound's Taiwan distributor Prosound Inc and installed by Mr Wu Jien-Ji of the Ya-Chei Company, EASE acoustic simulation was used to define the optimum positioning and angle for the loudspeakers. It also demonstrated that the coverage and sound quality of the Turbosound enclosures meant a relatively small system would more than adequately fulfil the venue’s requirements.
Pairs of Aspect® TA-500, QLight™ TQ-310 wide dispersion and TQ-445DP digitally self-powered enclosures form the main system, with bass reinforcement provided by a pair of TSW-218 subs. A pair of TFM-212 wedge monitors is also provided for stage monitoring.
With control by an XTA DP-448 processor, amplification by QSC and a 32-channel Allen & Heath ML5000 mixing
console, it is a compact but extremely powerful and versatile system.
"The theatre's technical team has said that it is very satisfied with the system's sound quality and performance," says Turbosound’s Middle East & Asia Market Manager, Tim McCall. "It can handle both speech and music equally well, its compactness also meaning that the loudspeakers don't visually intrude on the theatre's spectacular internal design.
