Home, St Louis - casino clubbing leaves Las Vegas

Home is a brand new $15m nightclub at Ameristar Casino Resort Spa in St. Charles, MO, USA. This extension of the Home brand beyond its hometown of New York was opened on New Year's Day 2008. It features the most decadent décor, the latest in audio-visual technology and the highest level of VIP service this side of Las Vegas.

Once past the velvet ropes at the entrance, you walk through the entryway with its softly glowing candles to the ultra-lounge, a room filled with couches and a roaring fireplace. Beyond that is the main room that has a nine by 18-metre sunken dance floor between two nine-metre bars.

The other two sides of the room are lined with alcove banquettes, and down on the dance floor, the four corners have 'in-the-action' VIP tables. The DJ booth is elevated in front of the dance floor.

It is obvious that everything at Home is top of the range, and that includes the installed Turbosound loudspeaker system. The T-shaped sub enclosures, located on the dance floor, are made up of two suspended Aspect® TA-880L subs over a suspended TSW-218 sub. Hung on spring-loaded acoustically calibrated isolating platforms, the cabinets are isolated from the main structure of the building, both from an acoustic and a mechanical point of view. The rest of the main system is made up of Turbosound TA-880H mid-highs, arrayed in groups of three cabinets, and NuQ-10 loudspeakers flank the walkways.

More Turbosound can be found within the alcove seating. Each booth has its own individually addressable dance system, with mid-highs on the walls and a subwoofer built-in underneath the seats. In addition, each booth has a private plasma screen and an Xbox.

The ultra-lounge has its own independent DJ booth, but this is a less energetic room with no defined dance floor. To encourage the 'dance everywhere' culture of the venue, the subs are built into the couches all along the edge of the room and the loudspeaker clusters above are hung in pairs at the corners of the seating area.

Since Home opened at the beginning of the year, big name DJs such as Tiësto have spun there, and Paris Hilton has been spotted there letting her hair down on the dance floor.
