The Lebanese capital of Beirut has a reputation for high quality nightlife, and installation company Thunder Electronics has ensured that high profile projects are getting maximum sound quality by installing Turbosound loudspeakers.
The Riviera Beach Club, part of the renown Riviera Hotel situated on downtown Beirut's famous Corniche, is a brand new, state-of-the-art facility, so it is fitting that Thunder Audio should install Turbosound's very latest Impact 55T and 65T loudspeakers, along with weatherproofed TCS Compact enclosures.
The club features an innovative layout, the central feature being a large swimming pool with a direct entrance to the sea and a central island with eating, drinking and relaxation areas. Further pools, bars, sun shelters and more eating and drinking facilities are dotted around the main pool. All in all, it provides an atmosphere of exclusive luxury and the Turbosound system’s excellent audio quality perfectly complements the surroundings and copes well with the climatic challenges of a beachfront location.
Background music for the entire complex is provided by 100 Impact 55T and eight Impact 65T cabinets on a 100v line feed. The new Impact series is ideal for this type of location as they have an IP54 weatherproof rating as standard and sport stainless steel grilles. Combine this with a selectable transformer and integral bracket, and they provide a perfect 'straight from the box' solution.
The Island, the central area of the beach club, features TCS series loudspeakers, all with Turbosound's advanced weather-resistant construction. These are 20 TCS-081CW, 16 TCS-101CW, eight TCS-215CW and six TCS-218CW. The pool bar is a party area that hosts DJs and bands in the evenings and needed a system to cope with this. It is covered by 24 TCS-081CW and four TCS-215CW, with loudspeaker control for the island and pool bar systems via Turbosound LMS-D24 processors. Audio feeds are from CD drives, DJ mixers and a small mixer for live bands.
"The sound is amazing, it's really hi-fi, even when the system is turned up to high SPLs," says Louay Agha of Thunder Electronics. "At the informal opening - ahead of the official opening - a band was playing on the island with 500 people there and another 200 at the pool bar. They all said the sound was fantastic."
