Introducing the new Aspect® TA-500,
designed to address a wider audience. The trapezoidal
three-way full range TA-500 features a new development
of Turbosound's patented Polyhorn design that
delivers awesome sound quality and ultimate flexibility
of use. The TA-500 offers roughly twice twice the
horizontal dispersion as the longer throw Aspect 880
and 890 products, while still retaining similar voicing
characteristics, and is equally at home ground-stacked
for regional tours as it is integrating with TA-880
loudspeakers in larger installs. • 141dB max SPL (peak) from an easily transportable cabinet weighing only 50kgs (110lbs)
• Smooth and even 50° horizontal coverage from
pateneted Polyhorn design enables one-box-per-side
applications • Full range response from 60Hz to 18kHz, or use with TSB or TSW series subwoofers • optional detachable wheelboard for easy handling and trucking
Better Sound, in all the Right Places

Extending Polyhorn™ Technology
Drawing from the extensive research that led up to
the innovative, patented Polyhorn™ designs employed
in Turbosound’s ground-breaking Aspect®
sound reinforcement system, further developments of
the technology are now reflected in a wider dispersion
full range enclosure, the 3-way full range TA-500.
The Polyhorn™ concept originally developed
for the Aspect® TA-890 touring and TA-880 trapezoidal
loudspeakers (and designed for larger audiences areas
such as arenas, theatres and festivals) can be readily
adapted to products suited to a range of smaller venues
that typically require short to medium throw coverage
with a smaller number of cabinets. The Polyhorn™
designs applied in both mid and high frequency bands
simply divide an exponential horn flare into a multiplicity
of tapered waveguides, while ensuring that all path
lengths from the diaphragm surface to horn mouth are
identical. The result is that all frequencies from
all parts of the diaphragm arrive at the horn mouth
together, providing the wavefront with uniformity
of phase. The Polyhorn™ design effectively locates
the acoustic centre well behind the motor system,
forming a virtual point source whose radius coincides
with the array curvature even though the enclosures
are themselves quite shallow and are consequently
easily manageable.
The TA-500 offers a medium dispersion pattern of
50° horizontal by 25° vertical, with a similar
driver complement and voicing characteristics to the
narrower dispersion TA-880 products, and this makes
possible to integrate the two types of cabinets together
in a typical venue. Because of the coverage pattern’s
sharp cut-off, multiple boxes will array seamlessly,
creating a smooth and phasecoherent wavefront.

The TA-500 is a wide dispersion 3-way full-range
enclosure primarily intended for medium-scale and
regional concert touringapplications, and fixed installations
such as nightclubs, music venues, houses of worship
and that demand no-compromise audio quality.
Itconsists of a TurboBass-loaded neodymium 15”
LF driver, a custom 10” MF driver on a Polyhorn™
device, and a custom HF driver on a Polyhorn™
device, covering a frequency range from 60Hz to 18kHz.
The two new Polyhorn™ devices are designed to
generate an exceptionally smooth and accurately defined
wavefront across a 50° horizontal by 25° vertical
dispersion pattern, and over the entire mid and high
frequency bands.
The cabinet is constructed from 15mm (5/8”)
and 18mm (3/4”) birch plywood, and is fitted
with internal steel bracing struts which form part
of the integral flying system. The enclosure can be
flown with M10 eyebolts, either vertically or horizontally
and even upside down if required. The side wall angles
are optimised at 22.5° to ensure seamless arrayability
when cabinets are ground-stacked in a block.
It is configured as a switchable tri-amped or bi-amped
(with passive high end) product, with conversion between
these options being reliably achieved by moving a
jumper which is visible behind a security panel, making
it easy to verify status at a glance. The cable connection
system allows for sub frequencies to be connected
through the pin 1 group of the oncoming Speakon NL8
connector, which is parallel linked to the single
Speakon NL4 for local sub-bass hook-up. Use with TSW-218
horn-loaded ULF enclosures or TSB-118
bandpass subs.
