Thanks to the efforts of Phoenix Audio and Lighting Technology - Turbosound's exclusive distributor for the Chinese territories - our products are being specified for a rapidly growing range of installations across the country.

Phoenix Audio has been working with Turbosound for less than two years, and in that relatively short time has secured many prestigious contracts and completed numerous installations, including Club Tango.

Featuring QLight™ and TCS loudspeakers, Phoenix Audio's other recent contracts within the Beijing area have included new sound systems for a live venue at the Beijing Dance Academy and the China National Children's Art Theatre, while in central China, projects have included the Nanhua Grand Theatre, and the Grand China Club in Changsa.

The Beijing Dance Academy has been established for over fifty years and is China's leading national training facility for ballet and dance artists. It is also one of the largest educational establishments of its type in the world. The contract involved the equipping and installation of a new system for the Academy's live performance venue, the Salon Stage. Phoenix Audio worked closely with local contractor Beijing Dawen Stage Equipment Company, who specified a TCS-based system for a high-clarity result that would meet the Academy's budget. The contractor installed a total of fourteen TCS loudspeakers, including TCS-56, TCS-59 and TCS-118 units, plus TCS-12M wedges for stage monitoring.

Within the arts sector, the Beijing Dawen Stage Equipment Company was also responsible for installing a TCS-based solution for the China National Children's Art Theatre (CNCAT). A national-level facility operated by the country's Ministry of Culture, the CNCAT boasts a long and successful track record of playwriting and performance for children. Founded in the mid 1950s, it has been responsible for creating some 130 new productions, and giving many thousands of performances for the country's children - both in Beijing and on tour. The CNCAT's performance venue required an improved sound system, to replace an existing design, and engineers at Beijing Dawen Stage Equipment specified eighteen TCS units, to achieve the necessary quality and coverage within the theatre. Completing the project last year, the contractor installed four TCS-56 and TCS-118 units, plus six TCS-59 systems and four TCS-12M monitors.

During 2004, Phoenix Audio continued the theatrical theme into central China, with the theatre-meets-nightclub project at the Nanhua Grand Theatre, in Hunan Province. Involving self-powered QLight™ enclosures, the installation was carried by Hunan Tianma Sci-tech, with the company's Zhou Xiangyang specifying four TQ-440SP units, plus four TQ-425SP subs. The venue was attracted by the sound quality that could be achieved by the QLight™ loudspeakers in the theatre-style environment, and was keen to select a system that reflected its quality image and reputation.

QLight™ enclosures were also specified for another central-China project, at the Grand China Club in Changsha city. The club is primarily a live performance venue, hosting events that cover a variety of styles and genres. A Turbosound-based system had been requested by the club's owner, who wanted to equip his venue with a high-intelligibility system, and Phoenix Audio supplied four TQ-315 loudspeakers for the installation, controlled by an LMS-D4 loudspeaker management system.

These recent successes for Phoenix Audio all feature new venues and customers experiencing Turbosound installations for the first time, with the breadth of projects in China reflecting the close relationships that Phoenix Audio has formed with venue owners and contractors across the country.
