Netherlands-based pro-audio distributors, TM Audio have recently completed an acoustic installation within the government buildings in Province Limburg, the most southerly of all the Dutch regions.

TM Audio became involved in the project via Heuvelman Sound and Vision BV, who won the contract for the overall design project when it went out to public tender. Rob Haarlem, project manager for Limburg, approached TM Audio to specify the electro-acoustic elements of the system design.

The installation encompasses three areas of the building and in each area the specified loudspeakers of choice were from the TCS series, designed specifically for a wide range of background and surround sound applications.

The areas benefiting from the addition of Turbosound cabinets were the building's conference hall (Statenzaal), a ballroom (Feestzaal) and a smaller conference and performance area (Grote Staat).

In the Statenzaal four TCS-30 cabinets form a central cluster above the room's chandelier, with six TCS-10's distributed around the public tribune. The intention here is for maximum speech intelligibility. A Philips DCN (Digital Conference Network) discussion system, comprising a 70-piece mic/speaker station, is installed to ensure this. The outputs of the system are fed to a BSS Soundweb, which supplies all the processing and distribution before arriving at the TCS speaker clusters, as well as the back-up recorders, wireless FM loop system for deaf listeners, and many other rooms and offices around the building.

Eighteen TCS-10 loudspeakers feature in the Feestzaal, providing a smooth SPL across the room, serving many applications. The Grote Staat falls into the same criteria for use as the Feestzaal, but features eight TCS-10 cabinets.
