The
Green Room The
Green room in Melbourne, Australia is one of the city's most
popular venues for independent
bands.
The management recently commissioned Carlton A/V to design
and install a new system for use primarily for live bands
but also for DJ applications. After an extensive on-site
demonstration with a number of brands, a combination of TXD
and QLight cabinets were selected. The
front of house system consists of four TXD-151 cabinets
which are suspended from the ceiling. The TXDs are
complimented by two TQ-425SP self-powered, dual 15"
subwoofers. The TXD-151s are powered by a Lab Gruppen fP3400
amplifier and the subs are internally powered by their
onboard power amplifiers. The
foldback system is based around the TXD-12M wedge with three
across the front of the stage. Drum fill consists of a
TXD-121 which sits on top of a TXD-215 dual 15" subwoofer.
The foldback system is powered by a Lab Gruppen iP2100 as
well as some existing Australian Monitor power
amps. System
processing is via a Rane RPM26z, a fully-programmable two by
six DSP processor which provides all EQ, crossovers and time
alignment. The RPM26z settings are password protected with
the only control being a wall plate which allows the venue
operators to switch between DJ, band and day modes. Further
upsteam, a Rane SM\26B Line Mixer is used to combine both
the DJ feed and the band mixer feed into the
system. The
system has been used by a massive number of bands and
visiting engineers and, from all reports, all
parties-including the Green Room management and staff-are
absolutely rapt with its performance.
