Pure Sin
City recently welcomed its newest and largest nightlife
destination, Club PURE,
at Caesar's Palace, complete with wall-to-wall Turbosound
loudspeakers. The
36,000 square-foot club features four distinctly different
nightlife areas, each with its own Turbosound audio system.
The install at PURE was completed by Scott Fisher, owner of
The Wave Sound in Las Vegas. The club
presented a challenging environment for Fisher. An abundance
of glass and other hard surfaces made for a very reflective
environment. The club's open floor plan also provided
additional acoustical challenges. Turbosound loudspeakers
were chosen for the install due to their high quality and
outstanding performance in adverse conditions. Fisher, who
has been Turbosound's Dealer of the Year three times (from
2002 to 2004) got the bid on the PURE install due to his
expertise and experience in the Vegas market,
commenting: "Turbosound
has provided some great support on this install. I really
enjoy their quality and service. I have over fifty
Turbosound boxes in my rental inventory alone. It's all I've
got!" Surrounding
the main dance floor are two more TQ-308s, eight TCS-59s and
three TQ-115 subwoofers. This placement was designed to
ensure that the perimeter of the room was not off-axis. A
further four TQ-308 loudspeakers and one TQ-115 subwoofer
are located in the glass elevator, next to the main room.
The elevator system pipes in whatever is playing on the main
dance floor. PURE also
boasts the only truly private VIP room, known as the Red
Room. The Red Room is connected to the rest of the club via
glass doors, and features a lounge "feel" with tables and
chairs. The sound system comprises eight TQ-308s, three
TCS-215 subwoofers and one TQ-115 sub. A Red Room amenity
includes the use of the BSS Soundweb Jellyfish remote to
select any audio feed in the building. Hidden
within the Red Room is an ultra-VIP room, equipped with
another Turbosound sound system. Entrance to this room
requires passing through a security guard and having your
own card access. Inside, there is a plasma TV, two TQ-308s
and one TXD-115 subwoofer that is mounted to the
ceiling. The third
floor of PURE is The Terrace, an open area that overlooks
Las Vegas Boulevard. Out here, club-goers enjoy
indoor-quality cushioned seating, private cabanas and a 20
foot-long fire pit. The audio system consists of six stacks
of TXD-151 loudspeakers pole-mounted to TXD-215 subwoofers.
All of the equipment is completely portable and
weatherproofed, with manufacturing special foam-backed
grills for the TXD cabinets, as well as specially treating
and weatherproofing the cones. The most
recent addition to the club is the Pussycat Doll Lounge that
opened in April 2005. "Desperate Housewives" star Eva
Longoria was guest MC on opening night. The lounge features
a six-foot champagne glass in the middle of the room as well
as two motorized swings. Coverage on the main area is
provided by four TQ-315s and four TCS-215 subwoofers that
are built into the stage. To the right of the stage, there
are four additional TQ-308s. To the left of the stage is the
bar and staircase with four TQ-308s and two TCS-215
subwoofers.

The
main dance floor at PURE is a rectangular room flanked on
two sides by raised VIP platforms. There are eight TQ-315
loudspeakers, four TQ-425 dual 15-inch subwoofers, and two
TSW-718 dual 18-inch subwoofers covering the dance floor. In
addition, Turbosound manufactured six custom horn clusters
with four drivers each that hang over the dance floor. The
custom tweeters were chosen for the dance floor based on an
existing audio system design and were produced in just eight
weeks. Very even coverage was achieved on the dance floor,
with no dead spots. An additional four TQ-308 loudspeakers
cover the VIP platforms. Fisher also utilised this space to
hide the subs within the cavities of one of the platforms.
The steel frame and concrete top deck platforms had to be
re-engineered to get the subs in place, as construction had
already begun in that area of the building.
