South
Hill Christian Center, USA On
completion of their new church's
construction,
the parochial committee of the South Hill Christian Center
agreed with the sentiment "We cannot have poor sound quality
in our new church", which had been expressed by Pastor
Batterson. This directive pre-empted the search for a
manufacturer of high calibre speakers, which culminated in
the appointment of Oklahoma-based RSI to supply a Turbosound
system. The
understanding that extensive planning would be necessary
before committing to any one sound system became apparent
whilst the new church building was still under construction.
Pastor Batterson's 250-strong congregation had made use of a
large rented hall with inherent acoustic design faults, into
which a new sound reinforcement system was promptly
installed. From that point forward the complaints of the
shrill noise emanating from the loudspeakers was unending.
Dennis
Cummins, co-pastor at South Hill, was responsible for the
final selection, purchase and installation of the sound
reinforcement system (and the larger framework which
included lighting and video projection systems). Once
enlightened to the existence of Turbosound, he was shocked
by the fact that a system of such intelligibility and warmth
would be affordable to the coffers of his church. Dennis
Cummins commented: "We have a broad range of sound
requirements within the church: live bands, CD playback,
public speaking and use of AV and multimedia devices. After
hearing the Turbosound Contractor series, I was more than
pleasantly amazed that we could afford it. The cost was only
slightly greater than the previous contractor speakers we
had purchased, but the sound was incomparable. The TCS
series really is the answer to our prayers, as it was
designed with churches in mind."
