Yebis
Garden Palace, Tokyo, Japan One
of the most de-luxe
installations
of a permanent Turbosound Flashlight system is at the Yebis
Garden Place in Tokyo, which has just celebrated its first
anniversary. The Garden Place is the result of a huge
redevelopment of a former brewery owned by the Sapporo
company. More of a town than an entertainment venue, it has
luxury apartments, a hotel, department store and shopping
mall, restaurants, cinemas and two large halls - it has
become the new cultural centre of Tokyo. There are two
distinct venues at the Garden Place.

Venue:
Yebis Garden Palace
Location: Tokyo, Japan
Venue-type: Concert Hall
Loudspeaker system:
12 x Flashlight TFS-780H
12 x Flashlight TFS-780L
The Garden Hall accommodates 1500 people and is commonly
used for rock and pop concerts while the smaller Garden Room
seats 300. A wide variety of productions take place at the
centre, including fashion shows, exhibitions and corporate
events, so the sound system had to be able to deal with all
aspects of performance; the budget for the sound
installation alone was more than 200 million yen (£1.2
million).
In the Garden Hall, 6 pairs of TFS-780H
were flown and 6 pairs of TFS-780L
stacked each side of the stage, controlled by Turbosound
LMS-780 systems and powered by EPC-780 amplifiers. The
Garden Room uses a much smaller system, made up of
TMS-3s.
A spokesman for the Garden Place explained that, "in the
early days, some customers brought their own sound equipment
to the venue, but that practice has stopped completely
because nobody has better equipment than we do! The halls
are mainly used for concerts by European artists, and their
sound engineers are always pleased, sometimes even relieved,
when they discover we have Flashlight."
