Zetor
Bar, Finland The
Zetor Bar and restaurant in Helsinki is hailed as the most
distinctive in the city, certainly because of the
decor. Zetor
is decked out using farm machinery as furniture - tractors
for tables, old buckets and cheese graters for lampshades,
not to mention the array of decorative extras from milk
bottles to milking machines. The inimitable design is that
of Malto Valtonen, lead singer of Finnish rock giants,
Leningrad Cowboys. Since
Zetor was first established in 1992, its unique style has
guaranteed its place as one of the most popular nightclubs
in Helsinki -as well as being a tourist attraction in its
own right! After eight years of Finnish and International
Rock 'n' Roll from the 70's and 80's, the barn floor is
still solid and going strong, but the time had come for a
new sound system worthy of the music and prestige of the
place. Restaurant
manager, Sakari Ellila, put a number of systems to the test,
and opted for Turbosound's punchy sound, good reputation and
impressive price to quality ratio. Finnish Turbosound
distributors, Noretron Audio Ltd, designed and installed the
PA specification, which was based around the TCS and Impact
series. Around
the dancefloor three TCS-59
mid/high cabinets, with two TCS-118
sub bass units, powered by Lab Gruppen LAB 1600 and LAB 2000
amplifiers, were placed to flood the area with Turbosound's
inimitable and energetic sound. The
rest of the space - grouped into five areas comprised of two
bar areas, two restaurant areas and the tractor tables -
benefited from 24 Impact
50
cabinets, chosen for their compact size but powerful
sound. Veli
Eronen of Noretron Audio commented, "As the decoration in
Zetor is of prime importance to its character, the sound
system had to take second place, visually, to the other
aesthetics. Fortunately, the sound is intelligible and
powerful enough from the speakers, even the smallest ones,
to counteract any obstacles in its directional
path."
